The potty training that never ends

So I have been potty training Sarah on and off now forever it seems. It is just not happening. Part of it I know is my fault. I have just not had a lot of time for it. So I am wondering, does it count as potty training if all I'm doing is putting her in underwear? I try and sit her on the potty every now and then but really I am just accepting the fact that there will be a lot of accidents. Can this work? Any advice?

that's what i pretty much did with ashby. we would sit her on the potty and she wasn't having it. she'd sit there for 45 minutes and then pee the second i got get dressed again. it only took about a week though until i think she finally understood what she was supposed to be doing. i'm really sorry though. i hate potty training more than anything else.

I know they say not to go back to diapers after you've started, but I tried three times with Kate, and just kept putting her back in diapers. I finally decided to just wait until she turned three because she just didn't get it. I was so glad I waited because when we tried again, she was just ready. We had hardly any accidents and she just got it. It really only took a day or two.

I had to go back into diapers with Aviry, and we tried pull ups too, those were just another form of a diaper to her. So I waited until she told me she was ready. She was 3 1/2 and one day she just said she didn't want diapers anymore, and she wanted to be a big girl. She never had an accident after that because it was her choice, not me choosing for her when she was ready.

The big mistake I made was comparing my kids to others that were potty trained or 'mommy trained' as soon as they turned two. I even remember taking Scott to the doctor when he turned 3 in 'big boy pants' so the doctor wouldn't know he wasn't trained yet. How silly...
